Rick West is the Founder/Editor-in-Chief of Theme Park Adventure (TPA). A native of Southern California, Rick enjoyed growing up around such parks as Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Lion Country Safari, Universal Studios Hollywood and Six Flags Magic Mountain. During the late ‘80s, Rick worked at Disneyland as an Attractions Host on Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, Country Bear Playhouse and more. From Disneyland, he was promoted to the The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, where he worked on The Disney Afternoon for Disney TV Animation. In addition to working as a Cast Member at Disney, Rick also has worked in Operations at Knott’s Berry Farm, both as a ride operator in Fiesta Village as well as one year for their Halloween Haunt event in the early ‘90s. Recently, after working as a supervisor at Excalibur Hotel and Casino’s Players Club in Las Vegas for several years, Rick returned to Southern California and has focused on taking Theme Park Adventure to new heights, offering his readers the most rich and detailed content ever in the company’s 15-year history. Rick’s love of the themed attraction industry led to the creation of Theme Park Adventure in 1994, which was first circulated as a theme park fan newsletter publication. Under the TPA banner, Rick published two large-scale books – the first focusing on Walt Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean attraction and the second taking a look at the creation of Tarzan’s Treehouse at Disneyland Park. Both were heralded internationally by fans, designers and executives alike. TPA merged onto the Information Superhighway and became the Internet’s first theme park fan site, first as part of a BBS and then a full-blown website, as it remains today at ThemeParkAdventure.com. While TPA is known internationally for its coverage of all things themed (and some not-so-themed such as roller coasters), Rick and his team are very well-known for the coverage they give to the dark industry – haunted attractions and events, from Knott’s Halloween Haunt to pro and even home haunts during the October season. Over the past 15 years as an industry insider/journalist, Rick has worked with numerous companies, executives and legends, which is evident in his writing and industry commentary in general. Theme Park Adventure is read by enthusiasts around the world and now celebrating its 15th Anniversary, is stronger than ever and very excited about working with The Season Pass on a regular basis.
